In August 2003, at a hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his doctors pretty much told me he needed to lose weight, or he might die. He felt overwhelmed then, but he decided to take one day at a time. He knew he had to lose weight or he would die.

Justin started his exercise by standing up and sitting back down at first. Then he began taking more steps each day. After about a month, He started to walk one mile. It took him 33 days to be able to complete a one-mile walk. He began going to a rehabilitation exercise therapy program at his local hospital. By following the weight loss program, he dropped some weight and decided to branch off on his own. He joined his local YMCA and started walking for 45 to 60 minutes, six days per week. He then incorporated weight training on his own as well. He worked his way up to doing other cardiovascular machines. He began trying stair-climber, the elliptical,  and others. He eventually got to the point where he ran my first 5K.

Justin realized he enjoyed food way too much. He went from eating processed meats, white breads, and other high-sugar, high-fat foods to more natural foods, like whole-grain breads, whole-grain cereals, egg whites,  milk, fruits, cheese, and vegetables. He tried not to consumed any sweet junk food then.
